August is a relatively quiet month, astrologically speaking, especially after some of the heavy-hitting months we’ve had so far in 2022. We are starting off the month in Leo season, with the sun, Mercury, and Ceres all in the sign of bold creativity and sunshine.

Mercury moves forward into Virgo on the 4th, but Venus joins the sun in Leo on the 11th so we’re keeping the upbeat, fire sign vibes going for much of the month.

Also on August 11, we will celebrate the full moon in Aquarius. Leo and Aquarius are opposite signs in the zodiac, representing the individual creative spirit, (Leo), and the power of the collective, (Aquarius). The full moon always occurs when the sun and moon are in opposite signs, bringing us a dose of balance and an opposing perspective to consider.

The full moon in Aquarius asks us to consider how our businesses and spiritual practices can serve more than just our own needs. This would be a great time to announce a new charitable endeavor or to give back to your community in some way.

Aquarius doesn’t want us to abandon our own interests and needs along the way though so also consider what YOU need to receive from the collective. What kinds of support do you need in your life or business? Maybe it’s time to hire a new team member – or to have a restorative conversation with someone who isn’t meeting what’s needed.

The most important transit of August will occur on the 20th, when Mars moves into Gemini. Mars typically spends 6-8 weeks in each sign. However, this time, the planet of action and passion will remain in Gemini until late March 2023 due to a lengthy retrograde at the end of this year. For the next seven months, we will be asked to be flexible and agile in our actions and to be prepared to pivot at any moment. Expect the unexpected, especially in relation to technology and communications.

It’s also going to be important to be mindful of our words, as they may come across as more angry, aggressive, or passionate than we intend. This can be harnessed to your own advantage, but it also has the potential to get the better of us at times, so thinking before you speak or post will be ideal.

Then on August 22, Virgo season begins with the sun’s entry into the sign of the priestess archetype, of rituals and routines, and back-to-school vibes. The season starts off with the sun and Mercury in Virgo and although Mercury moves on into Libra on the 25th, it will soon be back. Mercury stations retrograde in Libra on September 9, before moving back into Virgo shortly after the autumn equinox.

For this retrograde-free period of Mercury in Virgo in August, pay attention to what themes, conversations, questions, and routines seem to arise. They’ll be brought back up in late September for your reflection and reevaluation!
